Members of Northwest Nonprofit Resources (NNR) receive access to quality services and discounts on publications and events hosted by NNR.  We maintain a resource bank of services important to the business side of being a nonprofit organization.  Some are designed just for nonprofit organizations such as an unemployment trust and liability insurance. Some provide special rates for our members.

Online Professional Development Training

Unemployment Services Trust (UST)
A service that allows nonprofit organizations with at least 10 FTEs to save on the amount their organization pays on unemployment taxes and to receive technical support to minimize unemployment claims.  A Request for Quote form will help an organization determine if this program will save them money.
 
Liability Insurance Options
Nonprofit Risk Management Center offers on-line and printed resource materials to help you manage your organization's risks. 
 
Alliance of Nonprofits for Insurance, Risk Retention Group provides resources and liability insurance products designed for small and medium sized nonprofit organizations.
 
Links to Business Services
TechSoup connects nonprofits with donated and discounted technology products. They work with both corporate and nonprofit technology partners including Cisco, Groundspring, Microsoft, and Symantec. All products are available for low administrative fees that include shipping, handling, and customer support  They also provide news and tutorial tips on use of software and technology products.

How to Form and Maintain a Nonprofit Corporation in Washington State
An online guide that gives you the basics involved in starting a nonprofit in Washington state available through the King County Bar Assn. It provides considerations before you decide to become incorporated, a check list, different parts of state law and sample documents (among other things).  It's a great overview of what's involved in starting and maintaining a nonprofit.  
 
The "Start-up" folder the Nonprofit FAQ offers good advice on this topic.

IRS' Publication 4220, which is written in plain language with broad explanations of procedures and considerations of applying for 501 (C)(3) status

The IRS website has a section specifically for Charities & Nonprofits. You'll find information in e-filing, the new 1023 application, and other tax related information.
